Correct me if I'm wrong, but in Econ 101, don't they teach that this kind of thing causes runaway inflation? I seem to recall history lessons on this including Weimar Republie (well, a lot of the world at that time, to tell the truth). And aren't we currently seeing that in Zimbabwe?
I would not be surprised to see an inflation crisis rise in the next year or two. And everyone will wonder why it happened...

22:58 EST Update
The live feeds have gone down. Apparently the Indian Army has asked the news crews to stop broadcasting. Sounds like it's time for a full S.W.A.T.-style assault.
21:38 EST Update
NDTV is reporting that Indian Commandos are moving in and renewed fire can be heard in the hotel.
I have e-mailed the Indian Embassy in D.C. to see if there is a fund to donate to support the victims of the attacks.
Original Post
I'm late to the game on this one. Earlier today Mumbai, India was attacked by teams of terrorists who assaulted a Police HQ, a hospital, a railway station, and two hotels. As I am writing this, hostages are still being held at the Taj and Trident hotels, 9 terrorists are captured, 3 killed, and 2 escaped. The Indian Army is reported to have deployed to three different locations, and is pushing the media further from the hotels.
Information first gleaned from Ace of Spades. I am currently watching the NDTV english online video feed.

So...now the change.gov policy page is down entirely. Wonder what's up with that.

Apparently sometime last night the change.gov website changed from saying "require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year" to saying community service would get people a four thousand dollar college tax credit.
If this is a true policy change, it's a step in the right direction. Now it just needs to be determined if that four thousand dollars is a true tax credit or a tax "refund". I'd be all for a tax credit, but they'd need to figure out how to apply a credit to a group of people who, on average, don't make enough to pay four thousand a year in federal taxes. Split it up over multiple years, perheaps?

So Barack Obama is the next persident of the United States of America. I've been avoiding posting througout the campaign because both choices annoyed me; Obama in particular.
However, Congratulations to Mr. Obama. You have the reigns at the beginning of next year. I, and many others will be critical, but maintain a steady course that doesn't cross the line and we won't have an equivalent of the Bush Derangement Syndrom develop.
That being said: not off to a good start, and we're not even into the actual Obama Administration yet. The Obama supporter's adherance and defense of it is even creepier than mandantory citizen service. It makes me think of Starship Trooper's campy propaganda that made liberals yell "pro-fascist progaganda movie" back in the day.
So I made this.

The big gaming news of the week: Diablo III
All I can say is, "ABOUT TIME."
It was one of those things where number 2 ended in such a way that it could be the end, but given the sheer cash-cow potential of 3 it was inevitable that a third be released. Rumors of "team 3" circulating the net starting a few months back just added fuel to the inevitability fire. It just remains to be seen what they do with the story. Being Blizzard, it'll probably be awesome though.

So, apparently we're starting to figure this missile defense thing out to the point that almost every time we test one of these things it works. Even when we launch it at a multi-stage target in an attempt to confuse it.
I always wondered why if my old Dell could figure out how to do it in Aces Over Europe back in the mid 1990's why it's so unbelievable that we could do it now. This is especially true after the Navy shot down a wayward satellite.
Oh well, it's still unproven, since it hasn't shot down anything in actual combat yet and thus is just wasteful spending. The hippies who want to defund anything to do with missile defense say so, so it must be true...right?
Hat tip to Ace.

Welcome to my accidentally created blog!
How does one accidentally make a blog, you ask? A good question. I was tired and putzing around Ace's new site-in-testing and saw a login thing. Thinking this was for commenting, my moron brain decided to make an account, and bingo, This is no Zaku, Boy was born.
